At 1.48kg, the Osprey Farpoint™ 40 Travel Pack is one of the lighter packs on our shortlist. And with dimensions of 55 × 35 × 23cm, it also sits firmly within most airline carry-on limits.
The Osprey Farpoint™ 40 features YKK zippers (some lockable), a dedicated rear laptop compartment, and a fully stowable shoulder harness and hip belt. It uses bluesign®-approved recycled high-tenacity nylon with a PFAS-free, durable water-repellent finish. Osprey also backs the pack with its well-known All Mighty Guarantee lifetime warranty.
It markedly differs from other clamshell-designed packs in its layout, something not every traveller might like: The pack has two padded side panels with compression straps across the back, and instead of two water bottle pockets on the side, it has one large semi-mesh compartment with dual access at the back. Still okay to store water bottles, but not optimal for weight distribution.
